About PointTally
PointTally is an independent CRS calculator operated by a registered Canadian business. It mirrors the public IRCC Express Entry points grid so anyone in the global pool can estimate a score out of 1,200 and compare it to recent draw cut-offs. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting for the Government of Canada or IRCC, and every score is an unofficial estimate — not immigration advice.
Last reviewed . The calculator grid and draw data are version-stamped on the methodology page.
Who runs this site
PointTally is published by a registered Canadian business that builds and maintains transparent, source-backed calculators. We are a faceless tool by design: instead of leaning on a single named author or a manufactured "expert" persona, our credibility rests on three things you can check yourself — the real organisation that publishes the site, the public IRCC sources every constant is drawn from, and a dated "verified" stamp that only moves when the underlying data actually changes. We do not fabricate authors, testimonials or ratings; we believe an honest, sourced tool is more trustworthy than an invented byline.
What PointTally does
The site computes a Comprehensive Ranking System score for Canada's Express Entry system from the inputs IRCC uses: age, education, official-language ability on the CLB scale, work experience, spouse or partner factors, skill-transferability combinations and additional points such as a PNP nomination or the French-language bonus. It then shows how the resulting estimate sits next to recent published draw cut-offs. The whole calculation runs in your browser — nothing you enter is sent to us or stored on a server.
What PointTally is not
This is the most important section on the page, and the line we hold on every page of the site:
- Not the Government of Canada or IRCC. PointTally is independent and unofficial. The authoritative CRS calculator and points grid live on the Government of Canada (IRCC) website at canada.ca. Where our number and IRCC's differ, IRCC is right.
- Not immigration advice. We compute a number from a public formula. We never tell you what to do, never interpret your personal legal situation, and never promise an outcome.
- Not a licensed representative. We are not, and do not hold ourselves out as, a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC), lawyer or paid representative. Immigration advice for a fee in Canada is a regulated profession; we do not provide it.
- No guarantees. A high estimate is not an invitation, and an invitation is not permanent residence. Each draw sets its own cut-off and IRCC makes every selection decision.
How we make money
PointTally is free to use. The site is supported by display advertising and by a small number of clearly-labelled partner links to language-test preparation and educational-credential-assessment services. These partner links are optional, never affect your score, and are disclosed wherever they appear. We never place credit, mortgage or licensed-representation referrals. See the disclaimer for the full relationship disclosure.
Accuracy & corrections
We re-check the IRCC points grid and the rounds-of-invitations page on a regular schedule and update the tool only when a constant or a draw genuinely changes — we do not bump the "verified" date cosmetically. If you spot something that looks wrong against an official IRCC source, please tell us on the contact page and we will check it against canada.ca and correct it if needed.
